Here is paleontologist Jack Horner giving a presentation at TED. Horner suggest that they are close to reverse engineering dinosaurs using chickens. Hummm yes it would seem that we do indeed have a Jurassic Park moment in the making!
As far fetched as it sounds, the TED presentation is very engaging. As you can see I have embedded the video below. And here is the link to the IO9 article that gave me the heads up.

Are we smart enough to control this or is Jurrasic Park about to happen again for real this time.
I've heard this before, that the chicken is the closest living kin to the dinosaurs.
But honestly ... if you spend too much time with the idea that the T-Rex was basically a giant chicken, well, that's just depressing.
Hummm smart enough? I think there is little chance of ever having a Jurassic Park moment. I am just so suspicious of the motivation. Because he always wanted one? That is hardly enough reason to follow through with a custom created animal. And that is exactly what we are talking about. Because it looks like and acts like something out of the Jurassic period does not make it in any way shape or any other comparison a dinosaur. Its a chicken warped out of all recognizably. So the point again is why?
thanks for the post tritan
See, I knew someone else would get it. and now to prove a point....lets screw up a chicken so bad that it looks more like an animal from 65 million years ago that what its become...a bbq accessory....
Yeah but can you imagine the size of the eggs from a Trexed chicken!
Make some giant omlets huh...
hey anon, you ever taken an egg out of a chicken's nest? I don't think t.rex scrambles are on my menu....
