SyFy Kills More Original SF - More Wraslin To Follow

Michael Hinman over at Airlock Alpha is reporting that after two seasons, "SyFy, according to a network source,  has decided not to renew 'Alphas' for a third season,"

The statement goes on to load on the BS about how proud SyFy was to carry the program and thanked the fans for their support.  (why does that statement make me feel like I just performed a particularly vile and disgusting sexual act?)

Oh and hey fans of the show, don't be looking for any clean up of plot lose ends, SyFy is really cutting Alphas off at the knees.

I really don't know how to comment on this.  Am I surprised?  No, not really, the network has a really well developed track record when it comes to science fiction, yep, they like wrasslin.   But I would not put it past them to showcase the newest southern phenom. mudcat hand noodlin.  Mark my word...

I have a few things to say about this. It took me almost the entire first season to start liking this bloody show. Then I loved it.
So yeah, I have a few things to say, but in deference to my friends out here, I will keep my mouth shut, as even a XXXXXXXXX porno would censor what I have to say.

Sadly, kallamis, I totally agree. :(
Been watching since the beginning (back when it was the Sci-Fi Channel), but rarely tune in anymore. (I still miss Farscape. ;( )

I remember when I first got that channel. I had just recently quit being a drifter, and sliders went there. I ordered satellite, and installed it myself during a thunderstorm. I got it the same day that sliders was returning, or premiering (however you want to see it) on sci-fi.
And look at what they have become since then.
Pretty pathetic if you ask me about what they have become.

You and me both Kall. And to put some icing on top of this xxxx pile, SyFy has the complete full length of the opening song....bets on if we ever hear that?

I havent got a clue Kall! I thought it was doing the numbers, so I am just as confused. Haven is next on the block, it won't be back for another season. Hell I have been pissed since MST3000 bit it. Then they started doing GOOD stuff Farscape and such and killing them just as fast. The writing was on the was when Sci-Fi to SyFy yep that was it!

count me in on that sentiment scbuzz. I loved it when it was Sci-Fi. Even the commercials were a bit cheesey, but that was the fun, you got some b movies and older network SF. You know things began to change when they started doing original programming. Some of it was VERY good, but the fun was gone, but I maintained hope. They started doing anime! yaaaaaaaaaaeeeeee....then that disappeared (christ Disney an Nick are doing better now than SyFy) then the good shows started going away. What a list and it all gone....but wraslin is still there....

Sometimes I think that the entire station is wrapped around the little fingers of idiots.
I remember when they changed He-man, because a certain group screamed it was devil worship it was representing. So Eternia became a ship, battle cat was gone, etc. And the show went belly up fast as light.
Wonder if someone did the same thing here. It wouldn't surprise me a bit. After all, they did have super powers, and I have heard the same about Avengers etc.
Here is what was said after the first 8 episodes. Ryan of AOL TV called it the summer's most promising new drama: "Not only has Alphas successfully avoided many of the pitfalls that have bedeviled other superhero-flavored projects, it's done a good job of balancing character-driven moments with taut, well-paced storytelling. And the damn show just got better after that.
And after they had Gary and Bill work together alone in that one episode, I noticed a lot of people liked it even better. I was one of them actually.
It just doesn't make sense. The numbers were there. The show was doing great.
I still think they are trying to turn it into something else slowly, and attempting to keep the same people. Not going to happen.
I don't know. I just don't get it at all.
Wish I had the money to start a channel.

I also heard awhile back, and I think we mentioned it here before.
They have stated that they want more reality programming like that ghost silliness.
I'm guessing pretty soon we'll be seeing Honey smeg smeg searching for ghosts in the hills or something.
These people give me a serious attitude problem. They're actually coming close to irritating me as much as the comments on yahoo articles.

Mallet, you, excuse the pun, hit it right on the head! That is what is passing for entertainment programming these days. You know, I don't even really care. But don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining! There is no what I am going to classify ghosts and goulies as anything CLOSE to science fiction! And certainly not wrasslin If that is what people want to watch, fine, just give me a channel with stuff I like! What is so damn difficult with that idea!?

You got it mallet.
I've always wanted to know where they are going to film, and then go put all my skills to use at once.
I bet they'd be back in their offices in about 5 minutes that night.

you know kall it isn't a matter of the show being wrapped around anything in my opinion. These people wipe themselves with 100 dollar bills and syfy has become their scheisshaus. They figure they can squeeze out any type of crap and SyFy fans will eat it up. I know the imagery is discusting, but so is the way the channel and the people who watch the channel are being used.

honey smeg smeg HA HAR! stop...Kall that one hurt! I think I coughed up a lung! Oh No I've gone blind!

Yeah, you got it. They really think they'll keep the sci-fi people with what they do. I have news for them.
No sci-fi
No sci-fi people
What is it about that they don't get.
Jodi and I watch Once Upon A Time as well on Sundays. I shudder when I think what would happen if they got their hands on that show. Or Falling Skies. or Walking Dead, (which in my zombie loving terms), I'm starting to think they already did the way it's going.
What's the surest way to destroy a show. Give it to the syfy channel. I hate hate hate hate hate that spelling. It's sci-fi, not syfy.

You and me both Kall I swear they used SyFy to confuse the knuckle walking crowd. I flinch every time I see it...but eve Sci-fi made me twitch, but it is miles better than that feel good idiot title that they replaced it with.
