Iron Man Suit Possible Within 5 to 10 Years

Hey check out this Device article that details Sarcos Raytheon's improved XOS called simply the XOS-2.
From the article:
  • This improved version of the original XOS is stronger, lighter, more damage resistant, and uses only half the power of its predecessor. It's still tethered to an external power supply, which trades mobility for a lot more power and longer running time. The good news is that Sarcos just announced that they expect to start shipping XOS 2 within about five years, and that an untethered version could be about 10 years out.

Although I have to admit to a small sense of disappointment. Remember the theme of "The Incredibles"? When one brilliant industrialist-adventurer keeps his Iron-Man suit as a closely guarded secret, that's cool. When anyone can get one at their local army surplus store, that's just lame.

Now there is a true sf fan.
You know Josh, I wondered why I kept getting these ever so minor negative reactions. I always liked Iron Man, though it was only recently. It mostly has to do with the "hey wait, you guys are screwing with one of my most favorite characters.

Although come to think of it, that might be something worth exploring in future movies. Kind of like that scene early in The Dark Knight when Batman had to deal with all those self-styled bat-wannabes getting in his way and cramping his style....

like this guy in the video. I think he doubled for the Iron Man action sequences? Yeah, I can see when this would become bothersome!
