One comment - are Berman, Piller and Paramount trying to pull a George Lucas on us and milk as much out of this franchise as "Star Wars"? What's next TNG in 3D?? I have "Star Wars" on DVD and have no intention of buying Blu-ray or another 'enhanced set' (3D)! (Why doesn't George work on the last three films of the Trilogy)? I do not own any "Star Trek" series because they have always been WAY overpriced when compared to other Sci-Fi series. I just picked up the entire "Babylon 5" series for $12.50 per season and the entire "Twilight Zone" and "Outer Limits" series for $60.00. I'd be happy to add these to my collection if they would get them down to about $15.00 per season!!

You know Homer, there is part of me that says...wow, this is great..but you are on to something because it wouldn't get done unless there was a big $ sign in there somewhere. It is a great improvement, but is it going to be worth the cost. I am going to wait and see what it will cost for the HD, I really don't see myself owning it however.....

I've gotten to the point where I will purchase (or find my favorite episodes, ahem, in other places) and download them. To me episodic television is the same as buying a CD. Why pay for three or four episodes or songs when the rest are crap?

Yeah that is a good point. The one thing in the defense of ST:TNG is that as a rule, each episode was fairly good. Worth purchasing? You know it might just be this HD that would put me in the right frame of mind, but I have a limited budget in that area, I would almost put it in my rental budget. Oh BTW you see that WB doubled their wait period on rental to 56 days?!

What's up with that waiting period? I haven't heard about that. Yes, I will admit that most of the TNG episodes were good, especially season 3 and on (like most of the other spin-offs). I'm still a fan of DS9. Gotta love the underdog. Like some critics say "The best SciFi series that no one watched". DS9 and Babylon 5 have always reminded me of each other. I remember hearing once that there were debates on whether one or the other ripped off the premise from the other one.

Yeah, they just released the word today, the rental people are freakin out. You can not rent a disk until 56 days after sales start. It used to be 28...not anymore.

as for watchability, I always thought that DS9 was fine. I thought Avery Brooks was a very believable captain and René Auberjonois as Odo was so mysterious. The walk ons were always fun and I thought the story lines were where the movement was....Babalyon 5 though...I just don't know why I could not warm to it. I guess I have got to break over and borrow a couple of seasons.
