The Truth about Area 51?
- which covered everything from crashing a plane carrying a nuclear device to detonating nukes in orbit. Objectives ranged anywhere from seeing how humans would be affected in the resulting irradiated zones to testing nukes as a means to power spaceflight.
- was curious about installing missile installations in orbit and on otherworldly bodies.
But as Jacobsen puts it,
- the real whopper involved the German Horten brothers who were into building experimental planes for the Nazi party. The brothers were working on a flying disk design in 1942. After Germany surrendered in 1945 the US wanted the pair desperately. In 1947 one of the craft the brothers build crashed in the US. (Oh wait it gets weirder) The disks were said to have lift off and hover capabilities and weirder still the pilots (due likely to design constraints) were children around the age of 13. That weird enough for ya? Want more? ok, the child sized pilots according to eye witness accounts in Jacobsen's interviews, were the result of a Soviet human experimentation program,"
- "and they had been made to look like aliens using "genetic and surgical" procedures.
Why would they do this you ask? (ok the ones of you that are not wearing tinfoil beanies) Jacobsen scenario has it that:
- the Soviets were hoping to recreate the mass hysteria caused by the radio broadcast of War of the Worlds
- It's secret because apparently American officials saw these tests and decided to conduct human experiments of their own.
oh ok, now it makes sense.....
So, want to read the complete story about this insanity and links to her interview on NPR, and you want it all now? then click the on the Device link - here

No Aliens For Alien 5?!! WTF?

Weaver told MTV's Movie Blog that she and Scott have discussed returning to the character of Ripley in a new movie: What we’re interested in is taking the character of Ripley and seeing what other science fiction story we can tell about someone who has lived several lives.
Knowing the 4 preceding films as we all do I and IO9 have to ask: "Other science fiction story"? As in, one that isn't the latest iteration of "Bad Ass Woman Fights Aliens, Rinse And Repeat"?
And as you are all now groaning with the idea, lets think a moment - After Alien and then maybe Aliens....did you really get much into Ripley fighting of the aliens in 3? In 4 we saw Weaver bring some real kick ass strength to Ripley. I mean really - the line "Who do I have to .... to get off this ship? " was both so different for Ripley and instantly made her someone you didn't want to screw around with. I mean my contention for the Alien movies is that for science fiction movies they make great monster movies. You know? And yes I know most science fiction movies are a monster waiting in the wings somewhere to destroy everyone. As scarey as this is, quite frankly it's not really good science fiction. So the thought of Ripley, who has become so very much more than what she was in the start, doing something else besides kicking monster butt has some ummm charm. I'm game.

How would Christian react to aliens?

In the article: many observers assert that aliens would be bad for believers. Jill Tarter, director of the Center for SETI Research, once wrote that finding intelligent other-worldly life "will be inconsistent with the existence of God or at least organized religions." Now that sentiment is fairly common of those outside Christianity.
Theologians respond: Since God created the universe, he would have created aliens, too. And far from being weakened by contact, Christianity would adapt. Its doctrines would be interpreted anew, the aliens greeted with open arms.
The article is an honest look at how Christians might view alien visitors and how their religion might adapt. Excellent questions are brought up like, how does Christ himself fit into the picture? What is the meaning of this visit to our race at that time?
The article is heady and thought provoking if nothing else. Worth a read.

An Act To Require Alien Big Game Hunters To Be Accompanied by a Guide
So what the story Ron sent me really informs us about is a new piece of legislation that would require any non Maine resident to be accompanied by a licenced Maine Guide.
I don't have an opinion one way or another on the subject, but I just think its wild that there is now a statute on the books now with the words Alien and Big Game Hunter in the title. lol Arnold should hear about this one huh?
