New Stimulus Package - Big Brother or MallCity?

Shaun just sent in an article he is really fired up about from Natural News: He equates it to
MallCity plain and simple, and with this - well you have to give him his dues. Here is why.

Straight from the article:
  • The new $800 billion economic stimulus bill contains some striking new "Big Brother" health care language that should give pause to all freedom-loving Americans. For starters, the bill requires the electronic tracking of the medical records of all Americans. All your private medical data will be stored in a government database, including your history of disease, pharmaceutical treatments, surgeries and even emergency room visits.
Whoooooooooh! How did this slide through huh? Now I am not naive here, anyone who has had anything medical done with the funding from the government HAS to know that there is some sort of government record kept. But this is a would different coat of paint.... this is everyone!

Want more?
  • All U.S. doctors will now be stripped of autonomy and forced to follow the medical treatment guidelines dictated by the government.
HUH? WTF! oh and deviation means being penalized by the government! Now 1984 is maybe a stretch but I think not, but it SURE is another dead on hit by Dr. Saunders and MallCity.

If you think I am making this up, just check out the article...yeah it might be a bit to the right, but it's EXACTLY what Shaun predicted would happen.

Government wrapping its mind around yours.

"Police may soon be able to monitor suspicious brain activity from afar.
"Neurotechnology soon may be able to detect a person who is particularly nervous, in possession of guilty knowledge or, eventually, to detect a person thinking, "Only one hour until the bomb explodes." "

Today, the science of detecting and decoding brain activity is in its infancy. But various government agencies are funding the development of technology to detect brain activity remotely and are hoping to eventually decode what someone is thinking."

FBI aims for world's largest biometrics database

Dave T. sends in this tidbit. Shaun Saunders has been warning about this from day one with MallCity and look at Cory Doctorow's Scroogled, both tell tales of one government entity or another amassing personal data to the extreme. Check this out:

The Washington Post reports that: The FBI is embarking on a $1 billion project to build the world's largest computer database of biometrics to give the government more ways to identify people at home and abroad. The agency expects to award a 10-year contract to expand the amount and kinds of biometric information it receives. The system, called Next Generation Identification, will collect the biometric information. This will be added to the digital images of faces, fingerprints and palm patterns, the FBI already has amassed in its system.

(editor note: I plan on reading Cory's story Scroogled on this week's program. That will be #85)

Forced Immunization - one step away from MallCity says Saunders

A recent action by Circuit Court Judge C. Philip Nichols to force parent of school age children in Maryland to prove that their children have been vaccinated or risk up to 10 days in jail - has spawned some very heated debate from many people. One of our resident social critics, writer and psychologist Shaun A. Saunders has aptly pointed out that, right or wrong, this is a move well into his MallCity universe where civil liberties, personal freedom and privacy are things of the past. He has cited several recent news articles that describe in detail, just what is going on in Maryland.

Shaun writes

The weblink below tells of forced vaccination of schoolchildren in Maryland, USA, where kids were literally herded up into a courthouse and illegally and forcibly vaccinated without their or their parents' consent. Is this a democracy? Or another example of government and state acting as paid agents of big industry?

I've said more than once in recent radio interviews about my books Mallcity 14 and Navigating in the New World that the current reality of corporate Australia and its big brother the US of A is every bit as scary as my fiction...democracy? LOL - just forced consumption...

regards,

Shaun

Big Brother is watching us all

Shaun A. Saunders writes....."Infopanels just around the next corner, somewhere in the 'Mallcity 14' zone:"

BBC News online's Humphrey Hawksley reports:
The US and UK governments are developing increasingly sophisticated gadgets to keep individuals under their surveillance. When it comes to technology, the US is determined to stay ahead of the game. At Maryland University just outside Washington DC, where Professor Challapa and his team are inventing the next generation of citizen surveillance. They are writing a program called Gait DNA. Their goal is to invent a system whereby a facial image can be matched to your gait, your height, your weight and other elements, so a computer will be able to identify instantly who you are. "As you walk through a crowd, we'll be able to track you," said Professor Challapa. "These are all things that don't need the cooperation of the individual." Since 9/11, some of the best scientific minds in the defence industry have switched their concentration from tracking nuclear missiles to tracking individuals such as suicide bombers. BBC's Hawksley
next travels to the Pentagon in Washington DC.

US Government developing RFID implant for soldiers

rfidimplant.jpg

The next time some crazy homeless guy comes up to you saying that the government planted a microchip in his brain, he just might be telling the truth. That's because the US Department of Defense has already started a program to develop a tiny microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, which can monitor soldier's vital signs, giving important information to trauma doctors and other first responders. It can also be used to continuously monitor the condition of people like astronauts, or someone with a chronic condition like diabetes. Human trials are set to begin in as few as five years from now.

Tracking billboards could give you the eyeball

In Shaun Saunders MallCity 14 we were introduced to "infopanels" which for all intents were bulletin boards that could track where you were looking and feed you specfic adverts. I know when I read the book, I though that the tech was still a ways off and in any event, way too intrusive. So what does Shaun send me? Well, here is an excerpt, click on the article title for the complete story.

A camera that monitors eye movements from up to 10 metres away makes it possible for smart billboards that track the attention of passers-by. The developers behind the technology – dubbed Eyebox2 – believe it could have a range of possible applications, but should particularly interest advertisers. This is because it allows billboards to track people's attention. The system uses an array of infrared LEDs and a 1.3 megapixel digital camera to monitor eye movements. It can track several people at once and can determine their gaze from four metres away to within 15 degrees.
