US Government developing RFID implant for soldiers

rfidimplant.jpg

The next time some crazy homeless guy comes up to you saying that the government planted a microchip in his brain, he just might be telling the truth. That's because the US Department of Defense has already started a program to develop a tiny microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, which can monitor soldier's vital signs, giving important information to trauma doctors and other first responders. It can also be used to continuously monitor the condition of people like astronauts, or someone with a chronic condition like diabetes. Human trials are set to begin in as few as five years from now.

Yes Paul, I've said it before, in my novel 'Mallcity 14', and on these blog pages...

It IS scary, it WILL be abused, and the slickest spin doctoring campaign will be used to get these chips under every consumner's skin...

They'll start with soldiers, prisoners and elements of the population deemed at risk, such as children and those with mental disorders...after that...

It is, quite simply, all about CONTROL. Look at which parties are interested in this, and follow the money trail...

It's not a brave new world, but a very sad one...

I think that is the very corner stone of Huxley. His world started out as so bright and beautiful, but it took his savage to show how sad was this "brave new world". I am not sure what bothers me more, this tech or the fact that but for a few people such as yourself, there are so few crying foul. This tech is, in one blow, one of the most dangerous intrusions into personal liberty

Then someone must play harlequin to these TickTockMen. Is there not a way to scramble the little rfids en passant?

Sort of a personal sunspot that will roast out nearby integrated circuits without mucking up the surrounding protoplasm? Would also damp out a broad spectrum of the radio band the little buggers transmit on.

Oh sure, such as jamming a cell phone. But we are not talking about a minor annoyance. If these things are sold to the public as "good" and "safe" then anyone that disrupts them is an instant terrorist. We are already being trained on how to react to anyone billed as a such. It's is even a label now for anyone that has a strong opinion.

There is little doubt that this is not new tech. Look at the components closely and then pull apart the "anti theft" device in most products today. You will see a frightening similarity. The anti theft are NOT passive devices people. Anything that can be disabled by an electric field has active components. No this crap is not new, but it frightens me that so few have made the connection.

Paul, Ron and David,

I agree with all your comments -and yes, David, it's not new tech, and I laugh when they say 'human trials in 5 years'...'Swank' European nightclubs have been chipping patrons for several years now...what a brainless fashion accessory that is: "Look everyone, I've been chipped like a piece of beef! Mooo!"

Equally retarded is the suggested use of RFIDs (or 'SIDs' as they're called in 'Mallcity 14') as a security measure in 'countries of risk'...dead or alive they work, and whether the arm or other body part they were inserted in is still attached to the body or not...

This desire for control of others is a very obvious manifestation of deeprooted psychological illness.
Such insecurities...
