Saturday's on CN ratcheting up aminated SF

Robert Sorcher, cco of the Cartoon Network, told SCI FI Wire that the cable network is expanding it selection of animated science fiction for Saturday evenings. In addition to renewing Ben 10, Star Wars: CloneWars and a new animated Batman series called Batman: The Brave and the Bold is coming from Warner Brothers.

The new Saturday night programming is not yet scheduled, but Sorcher said it will debut sometime after the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie hits theaters on Aug. 15.

Sf Signal muses that they will leave it up to you whether the new additions to the lineup mean that CN has a better Saturday lineup than Sci-Fi, but if you like your Science fiction with healthy doses of animation and anime - Saturdays will be a slam dunk for the CN.

Cartoon Network snags 'The Clone Wars'

Tim Goodman over at the SFGate blog has news about the new Clone Wars cartoon:

Lucasfilm has announced that Cartoon Network has landed the "Star Wars" animated series, "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." George Lucas has created 30 episodes, each running 30 minutes. The show's first season will comprise 22 of the 30 episodes. And more are in production. The television series is scheduled for the fall, but there has been no official date set yet.

How do you like your Robot Chicken?

Sunday night (6/17/07) On Cartoon Network's Adult Swim (I know, Turner Broadcasting says its a different network....hummm, well I can sign up for the Cartoon Network but I can't sign up for Adult Swim on my cable...its on the same time, same channel, far as I am concerned, same damn thing! so sue me) we will all be treated to a unique Father's Day special. Thanks to Seth Green and crew of Robot Chicken we will be blasted by all things Star Wars. As all of you know that follow Robot Chicken, Star Wars is a particular favorite whipping horse for the Robot Chicken crew. It all comes to a head starting at 10pm Sunday when at the top of ever hour until 6am the following day, when the new Robot Chicken -Star Wars special will air and at the bottom of each hour, Green and co-producer Senreich will air their favorite episodes. The Star Wars episode is an all new production that will have Mark "Luke Skywalker" and George Lucas playing parts.

Robot Chicken to do Star Wars

Now unless you live in a cave, you knew that Cartoon Network's Adult Swim juvenile delinquent child Robot Chicken did a parody of the latest Starwars outing. Seth Greene and crew really pounded on the bad boys of the Star Wars universe - having Darth Vader making a hysterical call to his boss the Emperor and the Emperor doing a very corporate character assignation. Oh the episode was funny beyond all reason and I was left thinking that George is going to take these jokers to court sooooooo bad. Well it aint working out that way. It seems Lucas Films wants the parody on their own site! Whats more, Lucas Films is going to let the maniacs at Robot Chicken do a "feature" length Robot Chicken Star Wars....staring believe it or not George himself and Mark H. as Luke! Seth Green and Matthew Senreich are actually working with LucasFilm Ltd. to create the 30-minute parody of the Star Wars series. Senreich says it's a dream come true and "How many people can say that George Lucas let them play with his entire Star Wars universe and do Robot Chicken-like things to it?"

New Hellboy anamated movie coming to Cartoon Network

After working for decades for Disney, Tad Stones turns his attention to the universe of Hellboy to create a feature length animated movie. He's embracing the chance to expand his animation chops with his new feature-length film Hellboy: Sword of Storms, the first of two animated features from the mind of Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

Hellboy: Sword of Storms premieres on the Cartoon Network during Toonami on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 9:30 p.m. Hellboy: Sword of Storms has drawn the participation of several members of the cast and crew of the 2004 live-action Guillermo del Toro-directed Hellboy feature, including Del Toro and actors Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Selma Blair (Liz Sherman) and Doug Jones (Abe Sapien).
