A real hoverboard?! Yes, indeed!

I just wanted to share with you guys real quick that there are finally real hoverboards that work via magnets! Like they say in the video, it has limitations and can't go over water and things like that. Still this is amazing stuff! I'm amazed at this (obviously!) but tell us what you think in the comments.

It Flies Like a Helicopter, and Soon May be Big Enough To Carry Me!

Here is a proof of concept, 1/3-scale model of a hoverbike from Malloy Aeronautics. They are hard at work on full-sized vehicle for humans which lends one to speculate as to whether a motorcycle license is needed or a pilot. But even touted as an ultra light it will I am betting garner interest in several flight categories.

Kickstarter YA Novel Star's Reflection by Gail Arthur Eddy

Now here is something interesting and right down our alley (as science fiction BMU devotees)

Casey Wolf just sent me a note on how you might help sponsor a book through kickstarter.

The author is Gail Arthur Eddy and the title is Star's Reflection.

Here is what Casey wrote about the young adult novel  in her note:

• Set in modern times and in a temple of Hathor in Egypt, it is evocative and exciting. Through the agency of an ancient mirror, and the determination of young girls, an old wrong must be righted and a Priestess Path safeguarded.
• Gail's first novel, Mella Mella, was short-listed for the Governor General's Award.

I have had a quick look at the campaign and there is a support level to match anyone that is interested in doing so.  

Death Star Supporters Head to Kickstarter

It seems that the US government has not found the building of a Star Wars Death Star practical.  However the supporters are far from deterred!  Supporters have turned to the crowd funding project Kickstarter to raise the 31 million it would take to design the thing.

So far their efforts have raised 31 thousand dollars!  But as NBCNEWS.COM points out in their article:

• The funding deadline? April Fool's Day. 

Of course 31 million only gets you plans on "how to build a Death Star" because the cost of a functional "Star" would set you back a whopping $850 quadrillion!  

Of course the odd man out in this stunt is Kickstarter itself.  I suspect they are not finding the "april fool" at all funny......

Gardens of the Mind - PBS & Mr. Rogers Remix

Mister Rogers remixed by Symphony of Science's John D. Boswell for PBS Digital Studios.

John of Symphony has several works in progress. He writes about this compilation: Symphony of Science is still alive and well, and there will be new videos released shortly.

John's biggest project is called Terra Lumina. He describes it as an original, full length folk/rock album all about science. The Terra Lumina project is being funded by a kick-starter campaign that you can hear the proposal from the man himself here Sounds like a worthy project to me!
