As for manipulating a reaction, I agree. Why else do it in the first place. It clearly isn't to inform, but to illicit a reaction, or simply to get one to think and then discuss. In this case it is hard to understand the "anti-machine prejudice". The machine was stealing from him and he reacted to stop the thievery.
